Trade fair technical terms

USA trade fairs – What does „Drayage” mean?

Drayage is an additional transporting fee you are charged for to get boxes transported from the loading dock to your booth. This fee also covers carting empty boxes away, storing them during the fair trade and transporting them back to the loading dock once the fair trade is over. The cost for those services is determined between the trade fair organizer and the drayage company (their labor union, respectively).

Currently, drayage companies charge roughly UD-$ 100 per cwt plus any surcharges, depending on type of packaging, unloading time etc.
Therefore, the stand construction material should be as light as possible to avoid high drayage cost.
